What is it?
Formula SAE (FSAE) is a collegiate engineering design competition where 120 teams with 2,470 students from around the world design, manufacture and compete with a single-seat race car. The competition challenges students to take classroom theories and apply them to a difficult and encompassing project. To do well, each team must use good engineering design as well as good project management to compete in the 8 different scored events: Endurance, Autocross, Efficiency, Skid-Pad, Acceleration, Cost Analysis, Engineering Design and Presentation. Each one of these events challenges teams to what they would see in the Automotive Industry.

“Formula SAE promotes careers and excellence in engineering as it encompasses all aspects of the automotive industry including research, design, manufacturing, testing, developing, marketing, management and finances.” –SAE International

Last year the 2016 team, car #97, placed 17th overall at the Formula SAE competition in Michigan, a phenomenal feat for Minnesota State Mankato. This certainly took a lot of long nights and countless hours as well as a large amount of perseverance.

With your timely help, we hope to finish among the top 15 teams this year. We need to raise $35,000 to pay for the parts, materials and travel expenses to compete in Michigan in May 2017.

Please consider a tax-deductible gift today to support the Formula SAE.

NOTE:  If applicable, identify the Formula SAE team member that inspired your gift by writing their name in the Special Instructions box on the donate page.
