The Big Ideas Challenge
, a venture competition, is in its fourth year of encouraging and celebrating students' innovative startup ideas.

The Big Ideas Challenge is open to any Minnesota State Mankato student or alumnus (within two years of graduating) and provides participants with the tools, space, and professional mentorship needed in order to compete. Participants take new or existing startup ideas and turn them into reality through the generous support of Craig Lloyd of Lloyd Companies & Jones Metal. With the completion of the 2018 competition, over $50,000 will have been awarded to students and alumni in startup venture capital.

Past recipients continue to see success in their business endeavors. The 2017 grand prize recipient, Primate Longboards, and 2016 recipient, Iron Range Makerspace, are great examples of the students who have benefited from this academic, and real-world, experience.
